Default Nightfall's New salvage option?

Anyone care to explain this to me? I keep hearing about it, but I can't find a thread or news article on it.

Go check out the forum entitled Guild Wars Nightfall - there is a very large thread discussing the pros and cons (among other things) of this supposed new feature.

Here's a short synopsis for you:

PC Gamer had an article about Nightfall that said something about "Inscriptions" and being able to salvage an inherent mod (15^50, etc.) from a weapon, and that the mod you salvage will be selectable by you (i.e. 20/20 sundering or +30 fortitude?). Also, supposedly the weapon will not be destroyed through this method. No information other than this is known, and until confirmed by Anet, it's total speculation.

Ah, Alright.
Thanks Relambrien. I can see why so many people are speculating Market Destruction.

Alot of stuff is Speculation.

The Magazine said:
1) Inherent Modifers will be replaced by something called "Inscriptions"
2) Armor system will be similified
3) Can choose the components to salvage without destroying the weapon.

what you make of it is your opinion :\

Just saying they dont come out and say "YOU CAN SALVAGE OFF 15^50 NOW AND PUT IT ON ANOTNER WEAPON !!@@!!"

Thus making all items valuable now... I think rare skins will become rarer cause I can't see how this would positively impact the market in anyway as people can now mod their imperfect weapons to make them perfect. An example would be my Crystalline Sword I would now be able to make it 15>50 instead of it being 12>50. So I would imagine the value of items will be placed in the rarity of the skins if inscriptions can be salvaged that is.

so this means that I might actually GET the mods when I salvage instead of material?????? now THAT would be an improvement! (tired of having nice mods and only getting 10wood planks )

Tbh, i think the prices will drop, as most people will get the stuff they need,be able to salvage the things they need, also, when u have a white req7 max weapon, and put the 15^50 thing on it, is it still going to be blue?
if so, then no 1 will want it, u will just use it for ur own good, but however, ive been getting alot of low req golds lately, like req8 Golden Mauls, that are gold, but only has 1 mod on it, so il save them, then put all other mods on it, and it will it sell for more than a White golden maul, with 15^50 on..

Tbh, i think doing that is stupid, i liked the idea of random salvage, and also, how you couldnt get the 15^50 of weapons, makes them alot rarer.

so i hope this isnt true.

I really hope this isn't the case and it isn't implemented. Maybe an Anet officiall could give us a slight hint, as this has me concerned.

I love it when after duo-ing the UW/FoW i get a perfect Gold Weapon with 15^50. That makes it worthwhile.

If 15^50 becomes common, then it takes away the brilliantness of this item, the fact it was rare.

Also, random salvages were a great part of the game. I could live with it if the salvages were no longer random, and you could select the mod you want. But either way, you HAVE to destroy the weapon. It's gotta be done.

it will also stop people paying STUPID amounts of money for a weapon. In the early days if this game people with FoW were leet sauce.. hell people with 15k were leet sauce. Now every man and his dog has it. It's not special anymore. Making it harder to get will make it special again.
